Mt Olivet Cemetery

Location: New Windosr Road (MD 31) and Parsonage Road

The Mt. Olivet Cemetery is a one-acre graveyard near the intersection of Md. 31 and Parsonage Road. Mary and Anthony Jackson sold the land to Mt. Olivet Church in 1850, and both are buried at the site. The land is now owned by the nearby Strawbridge Community Church, which will partner in the cleanup effort with the African American Resources Cultural Heritage Society and the Frederick Church of the Latter Day Saints.

At Strawbridge, congregants are motivated to “deny ungodliness and worldly desires and live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself, His own special people, zealous for good works!”
